Roxtec launches new cable transit software to save design engineers time and money

Bury-based safety seal manufacturer Roxtec has unveiled new state-of-the-art cable transit design software which it says will save design engineers time and money.

The Roxtec Transit Designer™ is free for architects practices and engineering companies to use and allows design engineers to improve the entire process of designing, purchasing and installing cable and pipe transits.

Roxtec UK managing director Graham O’Hare said the software has been developed using feedback from electrical, instrumentation and mechanical engineers to help make their job easier.

 

“We have spent a number of years developing this software with the aid of engineers with a main purpose of making their job easier and more efficient,” he said. “For a typical engineering, procurement and construction company designer time is at a premium. Engineers just enter their cable schedule, sealing requirements, installation preferences and preliminary opening sizes into the software, and it generates manufacturer-approved drawings and helpful documents such as material lists and installation instructions.”

Mr O’Hare said safety remains the primary objective at Roxtec and the software would help designers provide maximum protection for their people, buildings and assets.

 

“This system makes the installation of our products safer because designers are able to accurately map out where cables are going to pass through the transit,” he said. “This gives them a clear and precise picture of how the whole system will fit together and which cables are closest to each other. When the design is finalised, the plans can be issued electronically, turned into 3D models or CAD drawings and installation instructions can also be generated.”

 

Mr O’Hare explained that the software would effectively allow cable transit designers to streamline the process.

 

“The Roxtec Transit Designer ensures that before engineers begin to seal cables in position they have been digitally arranged in the best possible way,” he said. “The plans and instructions are very clear and simple ensuring the correct products can be ordered so that when the contractors come to put the system together, they only have to follow the instructions. This again saves time and money by reducing on-site installation time.”

 

To access the free of charge software users need to register online at www.roxtec.com. There designers can begin mapping out their cable transit arrangement. Plans are generated instantly.

 

Mr O’Hare said the software also generates industry-approved documents for procurement teams. And even when the design is completed, if something changes the designers can return and make alterations.

 

The software also provides access to a 24/7 online helpdesk function where a Roxtec transit design expert will be on-hand to offer help and advice in a number of languages.

Designs can be saved securely online and once completed can then be electronically sent out and shared with their colleagues anywhere in the world.
