Ben Pinnington

Polaris Founder

Ben is an award winning author and trained newspaper journalist. A married father of two based in Lake Forest, Chicago, he has more than 25 years experience in the media including more than 15 years in maritime and engineering PR. He set up Polaris in his home town of Liverpool UK initially working with shipbuilding businesses in the Merseyside maritime cluster before starting exporting in 2014. He has since grown the company into an award winning international maritime and engineering specialist consultancy seeing the company voted Professional Services Business of the Year and International Business of the Year at the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Ben has advised more than 70 businesses including in Britain, America, India, China and Oman. He expanded Polaris from the UK to Chicago in 2022. Since arriving in the America he has spearheaded the revival of the Chicago Propeller Club attracting many of the leading organizations and businesses on the Great Lakes. In 2021 he published the Amazon best selling book “Making Waves: PR strategies to transform your maritime business’ with Rethink Press. He has a BA degree in Politics from Leicester University and post graduate NCTJ journalism qualification from Cornwall College.  Before setting up in business Ben worked as reporter and then in political campaigning PR for the Forum of Private Business, Scottish Parliament and Conservative Party.

Charlie Miller

Charlie Miller

Charlie Miller brings decades of global experience as a communicator, journalist and writer helping major corporations across more than 40 markets to successfully engage with stakeholders, build reputation and navigate issues, challenges, and crises.

A highly regarded communications professional and award-winning journalist, he has exceptional experience in the fields of media relations, reputation management, issues management, and crisis communications.

Charlie led aerospace giant Boeing’s global communications team for 12 years. His mission was to support global business growth and protect the company by optimizing reputation and mitigating risk with comprehensive issues and crisis management around the world.

Charlie spent a total of 20 years at Boeing initially leading and building an international team to optimize communications in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia.

Prior to Boeing, Charlie jointly led Corporate Media Relations as Head of News at Europe’s biggest defense company BAE Systems.

Earlier, Charlie forged a successful 20-year career as a journalist, primarily covering Global Affairs and Defense for the UK national news agency, the Press Association. He received the UK “Scoop of the Year” award for breaking the news of the death of Princess Diana in 1997.

A British national, Charlie moved to the United States with Boeing in 2013. He is currently based in Chicago. He speaks English and French.

Ged Henderson

Consultant writer

Ged Henderson is a multi-award winning former regional newspaper editor and national newspaper journalist with 40 years’ experience in the media industry. During his career he has covered major news events, including the Lockerbie air disaster, and has travelled extensively, filing stories from the Falkland Islands, Cyprus, East Africa and Asia.

His numerous awards include being named UK Industrial Journalist of the Year for his incisive work covering business for the Manchester Evening News. He has edited two award-winning regional daily newspapers – The Journal in Newcastle and the Blackpool Gazette. Ged has worked for Polaris since 2018 helping manage a number of key long term retained accounts.

Hannah Sherlock

PR specialist

Hannah Sherlock is a qualified Journalist and PR and Content Consultant, successfully delivering both B2B and B2C communications, bespoke PR strategies and campaigns, copywriting, media relations, thought leadership, social media content and influencer outreach. This is all with the aim of raising brand awareness and building positive exposure for her clients.

Hannah has a wealth of experience across a wide variety of industry sectors, including professional services (recruitment, legal and finance), construction, engineering, maritime, retail, eCommerce, supply chain and logistics, healthcare, hospitality, tech, lifestyle and interiors, food and drink, automotive and more.

Jon Barbuti

Digital media specialist

Jon is a senior BBC journalist specialising in online production, newsletter creation and production and developing content formats designed to appeal to ever-changing digital audiences.

Across more than 20 years, he has been front page editor for BBC Sport, worked as senior development journalist and led an analytics team digging into user data to understand changing behaviours.

He fronts two BBC newsletters and, sent to a somewhat smaller audience, a personal one on life as a Labrador owner.

Milda Cuplinskaite

Digital media monitoring and office manager

Milda Cuplinskaite is Polaris office manager and has worked for the company since 2018 . Milda is a law and management graduate of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). She undertakes digital media monitoring and business development outreach attending maritime trade associations events on Polaris behalf.

Pamela Brown

Consultant

Pamela Brown MBE JP DL is one of Merseyside and UK’s best known maritime figures. Pamela has advised Polaris and our clients since 2016 and represents Polaris at trade associations and events. Pamela is a director and trustee of numerous charities including the Mersey River Festival, the Mission for Seafarers the Liverpool Seafarers’ Centre, Friends of the Sea. Pamela was awarded the Merchant Navy Medal for services to the industry.
