Liverpool-based engine product manufacturer Cataclean Global Ltd is announcing its strongest year of trading.

Cataclean Global Ltd operates from offices in Trafalgar Dock and produces Cataclean®, a patented catalytic converter cleaning product. It has seen UK retail sales surge from £1.1m in 2012 to £1.7m in 2013.  Cataclean® comes in a 475ml bottle and is designed to pour into a fuel tank. Its benefits, for petrol and diesel vehicles, include reducing emissions by up to 60pc and removing carbon build-up from oxygen sensors, helping prevent vehicles failing MOT emissions tests. It can further help cut fuel bills by improving mile per gallon (MPG) consumption by 5 to 10 per cent. It achieves this by increasing the torque, and the performance of the engine, which in turn enhances the driving experience.

Graham Fraser, Corporate Development Director at Cataclean®, said the company believes current sales are only ‘the tip of the iceberg’ with huge potential to sell the product in even greater volumes in both the UK and overseas.

“We have had a terrific year,” he said. “This has primarily been driven by UK sales of Cataclean® to motor factors, for use by professional motor mechanics. However, it is the UK motorist market, exports and the industrial applications for Cataclean® that are really exciting. We have signed three new overseas distribution agreements in the past six weeks and are in the process of adding to these in Europe, Africa and Asia. Importantly, the company is enjoying strong growth in the USA and Canada where Cleveland, Ohio-based Accel Performance is our exclusive and highly valued partner.

“We know we have a great product which can deliver improved performance and cash savings. Our intention now is to promote Cataclean® as hard as possible to help it fulfil its potential.”

Mr Fraser said the company is determined to maintain current levels of growth into 2014 and a major target is the MOT market and emission tests.

“Industry figures showed that, in the period January 2010 to September 2011, of 47.9m cars MOT tested, 14.4m failed with a quarter, 3.7m, due to emissions,” he said. “This shows the size of the market for a product like Cataclean which can help motorists pass emissions tests. However, we must caution that, if the catalytic converter is damaged or very old, it usually needs to be replaced. Our product is aimed at the mid market for cars with working catalytic converters which have become dirty and are at risk of failing MOTs on emissions. This is entirely avoidable and preventable by using Cataclean® once a quarter.”

Mr Fraser said the prime concern for motorists failing an MOT emissions test is the painful cost.

“The worry is that many vehicles are failing their MOT, because of high emissions and owners are being faced with re-test fees and potentially high catalytic converter repair bills which can range from £350 to £2,000,” he said. “Our key message to vehicle owners is to use Cataclean® before an MOT. This should immediately reduce emissions. Long term we advise using Cataclean® quarterly to deliver the best results for lower emissions, reduced fuel consumption and improved engine performance.”

Cataclean® can be used in diesel, petrol and hybrid vehicles. It can be bought at all good motor factors including Euro Car Parts, Culmac (in North West region) GSF, Jim Barrow (in North West region), CES (UK) Ltd, Andrew Page as well as Halfords stores and Halfords autocentres.
