Liverpool-based engine care specialist Cataclean® Global has signed a new overseas distributor agreement for the Netherlands and parts of Germany.
The agreement has been struck with Sun Quest Holding BV, based in Landgraaf in the Netherlands near the German border. It will see Sun Quest trade as Cataclean® Netherlands, promoting the brand across the country as well as in the German state of Nordrhein Westfalen.
Cataclean® Global Ltd produces one of the world’s few patent protected catalytic converter cleaning products, ‘Cataclean®’. Sold for around £16 in a 475ml bottle it is poured into the fuel tank of petrol, diesel or hybrid cars. It has three prime benefits: it can reduce engine emissions by up to 60pc, it can improve performance and it can reduce petrol consumption.
Graham Fraser, Corporate Development Director at Cataclean®, said the company is delighted to expand further into the European market.
“Europe is a key market for Cataclean®,” he said. “We have recently signed other distributor deals in Eastern Europe and Greece so it really is very positive to strike further into Western Europe. The Netherlands is well known for being environmentally friendly and we hope Cataclean’s® ability to slash carbon emissions will play strongly there. The same is true of Germany which is clearly a huge motoring nation and we are very excited about cracking this market.”
Mr Fraser said a key selling point for Cataclean® in Europe is its ability to prevent expensive repair bills to catalytic converters (cats) and diesel particulate filters (DPFs).
“Cats and DPFs were introduced to help cut carbon emissions,” he said. “However, motorists are being plagued in particular with DPF problems which are now fitted by EU law to all diesel cars. For the DPF to function properly and ‘regenerate’ the car needs to travel regularly at higher speeds such as motorway driving. But, many cars are driving short, stop start distances which stops the DPF from regenerating. This can lead to cars entering ‘limp home mode’ whereby they will not accelerate very quickly or even become speed restricted. The cost of DPF break down can also be very expensive at anything from £1000 to £3500 and in some cases exceeds the value of the car.

Earlier in 2014 Cataclean® Global announced that UK retail sales had risen from £1.1m in 2012 to £1.7m in 2013. It also announced a distributor deal in Nigeria.
