SamandBenPinningtonPolarisMaritime specialist PR firm Polaris Media is expanding with three new client wins.

The company, run by trained journalist brothers Sam and Ben Pinnington, new clients include Runcorn ship engine specialist James Troop, one of Merseyside, and the maritime sector’s, most established companies. In addition, Polaris has been appointed by Birkenhead engineering company V & A Hydraulics and Birkenhead ship refrigeration and air conditioning supplier Flynn Refrigeration.

Polaris director Ben Pinnington said maritime is now the company’s biggest single division accounting for 60pc of turnover.

“Polaris is one of the few maritime specialist PR firms in the world,” he said. “This gives us a distinct identity and unique selling point. We have worked hard over a number of years to develop this experience building on Merseyside’s maritime links. All our new clients are world class at what they do and we will be helping them champion their USPs to industry.  The big difficulty we tackle is raising awareness. No matter how good your product is, every business has to promote itself and do something to stand out. This is made harder for maritime companies who trade across the UK and the world. Communication through the media is one way to reach a mass national and international audience regularly. UK firms are also helped by the fact that the majority of the maritime press is produced in the UK but then distributed and read internationally. Moreover regional press have some of the best optimised websites in the world. This again helps companies promote themselves to a national and international audience as regional reports appear on search engines worldwide.”

Ben said the three Merseyside companies also operate in sectors outside maritime and Polaris will also be raising awareness in industrial trade press.

Earlier this month Polaris promoted the Maritime Media Awards in London which each year celebrates the best in books, film and journalism covering the sea. Polaris also promotes Cammell Laird and Oman Drydock Company.
