Polaris appointed to promote Society of Maritime Industries annual conference

Polaris is proud to be appointed by the UK’s voice of maritime engineering and shipbuilding the Society of Maritime Industries to promote its annual conference.

Polaris is a long standing member of the SMI and sits on the Commercial Marine Group and Digitisation committees. In 2019 Polaris joined the SMI in China to promote the UK pavilion at Marintec in Shanghai the biggest maritime trade fair in China.

The SMI annual conference in March, held virtually for the first time over two days, is set to reveal the latest thinking on the UK’s national shipbuilding strategy.

* Open to maritime professionals worldwide this virtual event will see presentations from UK Government ministers and leading industry figures.
* The conference will hear how the strategy has grown in scope to include not only naval ships but also all ships built for the UK Government. This includes commercial vessels such as ferries and research ships as well as workboats and amphibious craft.
