Blog – the searing passion of the Lincoln Memorial

Blog, Polaris News

Polaris founder Ben Pinnington recently attended  the International Propeller Club Salute to Congress with clients in Washington DC. Comment on LinkedIn he wrote:

Very much enjoyed taking in the Lincoln Memorial and reflecting on his Gettysburg speech etched in stone.

The smouldering writing precise, sorrowful and defiant reflecting Lincoln’s personal depth drawn from his extraordinary life of grief, poverty and dazzling achievement.

The usual pomp of old world aristocracy replaced by a searing passion. The rough and ready frontier man tethered to his love of literature, Shakespeare and Burns especially, making him the consummate wordsmith.

Doris Kearns Goodwin captures the character of the man, and the time, in her brilliant biographical portrait Team of Rivals.
