Ben Pinnington, founder of Polaris Media LLC, has responded to the honour of being named Chicacgo Propeller Club President.

Ben says:

“I’m very proud to be named President of Chicago Propeller Club for the 2026 to 2027 term.

“Since we restarted the club in 2023, after a 14 year hiatus, our aim has been to give back to the maritime community. And I want to thank Erik Varela and Chris Carr for their support recalibrating the club as they move to officer positions as well as Scott Sigman for joining the board as treasurer in 2026 with existing board members Ian Hirt Chad Cailteux Jason Brown Warren Marwedel who give their free time so generously.

“Being president today brings back memories of when I first joined the industry in 2007 in Liverpool. I saw then how maritime leaders gave so much back in volunteer time especially helping small businesses, youth and poorer communities. That family business spirit sets maritime apart as an industry that cares and is invested in communities over generations.

“In my term I want to continue our focus on four key areas:

  1. Helping our members and sponsors grow their businesses with four high quality networking events a year. Businesses can only give back and create jobs and wealth if their cup is full.
  2. Growing awareness of maritime as an exciting entrepreneurial industry to work in here in Chicago, the Great Lakes and across the US and the world.
  3. Supporting and giving a voice to mariners and veterans. These are often the people most out of sight and out of mind.
  4.  Support member growth via the International Propeller Club network of 80 clubs in the USA and worldwide – the IPC is biggest maritime networking group in the world and a gateway to opportunities. We are stronger together.”
