Merseyside public relations firm Polaris Media is launching a new maritime sector marketing package after doubling its sales to the sector in the last 12 months.

Polaris Director Ben Pinnington said the company is seeing increased demand from maritime firms in the UK and Europe keen to market themselves with greater impact.

Polaris has recently added £7m turnover Liverpool lifejacket manufacturer, and marine products supplier, International Safety Products (ISP) and £2.5m Birkenhead based IPS Marine Fabrications to its marine division. They join Polaris’ established clients operating in the maritime sector including Cammell Laird, Mersey Maritime, Roxtec, Dantec and Engenda.

Mr Pinnington said the new marine marketing package includes national and international news media campaigns, internet profile raising, social media and website development, brand development and marketing literature.

“Firms operating in the marine sector are highly newsworthy and are tailor made for marketing,” he said. “However, many do not do themselves justice and are not harnessing their marketing potential. This is holding back growth.

“Having a robust media profile to support sales campaigns is essential. Firms can benefit enormously from growing understanding of who they are and what they do in the media.  Moreover the UK maritime media is a terrific platform for promotion. It is very well read across the UK and overseas and can help win work and open up new markets.

“More generally it is important firms get their online marketing right. Businesses are telling us that they need help ramping up their Google rankings to help attract spot business.  Media campaigns are very effective at this because so much news coverage is now retained permanently online.   Having a strong brand which reflects the values and personality of the business is also important as is having visual and well written marketing literature.”

Polaris is run by journalist brothers Ben and Sam Pinnington and is based in Ellesmere Port and Liverpool.
