Bury based international safety seal manufacturer Roxtec is targeting instrumentation and control system designers and manufacturers with an innovative new product.
Roxtec’s BG™ provides a space saving method for sealing metal clad and armoured cables. The new module can be used when a variety of cables connected with a protective armour, require grounding to meet bonding and grounding requirements.
The new products are the only multi-cable systems certified to meet international electrical schemes with bonding and grounding of low to high voltage metal clad or armoured cables.
Roxtec’s UK managing director Graham O’Hare said the Roxtec BG™ would directly challenge the cable gland market.
“Cable glands could soon be a thing of the past as a result of this product which is better value and easier to install,” he said. “The Roxtec BG™ offers a high degree of competition to traditional products, dramatically reducing space and installation time. In a typical cabinet or enclosure a single cut-out for the Roxtec system can replace up to 32 cable glands thus reducing the area needed by 70 per cent. Smaller and lighter control cabinets will result in a considerable cost saving.
“In addition, there are real saving is in labour costs, because the engineer does not have to cut and reattach connectors it saves a huge amount of cash in labour time. It further prevents disturbing the system and reduces the risk of human error.”
Mr O’Hare said the Roxtec BG™ products offer lightning protection and are ATEX rated and therefore available for use in hazardous locations.. The gastight seals protect against water, blast, rodents and fire. The products ensure electrical safety and protect both assets and life
