6.Seaking Leading Merseyside based electrical engineering firm SeaKing Electrical says it intends to drive growth across the UK and global marine, offshore and industrial markets in 2012 after completing more than 50 contracts worldwide in 2011 and growing staff numbers by a third to 130. SeaKing Group Business Development Manager Neil Mellenchip said the Birkenhead firm, which has an office in Aberdeen, is expecting turnover to increase by 40pc for the financial year 2011 to 2012. He said the firm has completed a wide range of marine industry contracts including extensive work for Cammell Laird shipyard. “2011 saw us continue working closely with Cammell Laird on a variety of ships both in the UK and around the world,” he said. “Here we offered the complete electrical services package from survey and design to manufacturing, installation and maintenance.” Mr Mellenchip said 2011 had also seen the firm undertake a broad range of electrical engineering contracts for commercial ship operators. This saw SeaKing operating at shipyards across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East working on a variety of vessels including super yachts, dive support vessels, drill ships and platforms, ferries, tug boats and tankers. Mr Mellenchip said SeaKing further secured a range of contracts in the industrial sector in 2011. Major works included a contract with Warbreck Engineering to build three control panels to deliver power to the Media City Bridge, next to the BBC’s new northern hub in Salford. Mr Mellenchip said the offshore market remains a key target for SeaKing in 2012 and it will be looking to catapult itself further into the sector from its offices in Merseyside and Aberdeen. “SeaKing has an excellent safety record and a reliable delivery offering for the offshore market,” he said. “This sector is very exciting and we see huge growth potential especially with the massive programme of upgrades to the oil and gas platforms in the North Sea. There are a wide variety of services we can provide the offshore sector including electrical and engineering support to vessels serving oil and gas platforms, as well as the platforms themselves. SeaKing can design, build and install bespoke control panels as part of specialist systems such as, hyperbaric extraction and regeneration units (HERS) and  controls for divers hot water systems. Further services can be delivered to fire and gas detection systems. “SeaKing can also deliver electrical systems and support to the offshore renewables sector working on wind farm substation modules and wind turbines.” Firms wanting more details on SeaKing’s services can contact: Neil.Mellenchip@seakinggroup.co.uk  or any member of the SeaKing team in Birkenhead Tel: 0151 652 4821 or Aberdeen: 01224 224132.  ]]>
