MANUFACTURING PR NEWS FROM POLARIS MEDIA
International Safety Products (ISP) is reinforcing its profile as a pioneering safety equipment manufacturer after landing a deal to supply tactical waistcoats to Police Services of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
The Liverpool firm has supplied 100 sets of its Mk II Police Tactical Waistcoats (left) to the force. A total of 30 sets have been supplied with floatation collars – a unique and optional buoyancy feature for security operatives working in a marine environment.
ISP managing director John Rogers said the firm is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of inflatable marine lifejackets. It has developed expertise in the security sector over many years after initially designing tactical waistcoats for the UK MoD Special Forces.
ISP has also worked closely with Police Armed Response Units manufacturing bespoke tactical waistcoats for more than 25 police forces across the UK. Mr Rogers said the latest project with PSNI involves another bespoke waistcoat design which includes 10 separate pockets to carry a range of police equipment.
“This contract with PSNI really helps to showcase our design capability,” said Mr Rogers.
“We worked closely with the force designing three new pockets to meet their individual requirements. Our range of pockets is ever growing and we currently have more than 150 different specifications designed to carry items such as radios, personal protective equipment, magazines, tasers and grenades.
“We have also used our core product knowledge of inflatable lifejackets to develop a completely unique product for security operatives working close to or in a marine environment.
“The design combines our Mk II Police Tactical Waistcoat with a 275N buoyancy flotation collar. This is the most compact of its kind on the market and consistent with the waistcoats’ design criteria of stealth, flexibility and heavy use capability. When fitted it allows full access to all ancillary equipment pockets.”
Mr Rogers said a key benefit of ISP’s Tactical Waistcoats is they can be tailored to suit different roles and duties of each force.
“Due to the unique modular system of our pockets, we can even personalise waistcoats to meet the needs of individual officers,” he said.
“This makes our equipment versatile and adaptable, particularly for personnel changing weapons, as they can simply replace a pocket with a newly designed one.
“This latest deal is an indication of ISP’s ambition to drive innovation in the defence sector. We take pride in developing robust designs, using tough fabrics and first class process techniques. ISP will now continue its mission to work alongside global security forces to raise standards in the development and manufacture of advanced safety products.”
