Polaris founder Ben Pinnington said maritime must do more to “tell its story” as he provided a keynote speech at the recent Mississippi Valley Trade and Transport Council in New Orleans.
Ben also shared a panel with Dawn Lopez and Paul Rohde with all providing insights into how the maritime industry needs to improve awareness of its many successes.
A key theme from Ben’s talk was that maritime is in a talent war. And that war is being waged with other industries.
To compete and win, those in the industry have to get better at telling our story to engage young people and the mainstream. Maritime has some of the greatest stories of any industry, Ben said.
He added: “We are steeped in innovation, entrepreneurship, exploration and adventure. It’s time to tell that story and why this industry is about people, camaraderie and passion”
