SeaKing Business Development Manager Neil Mellenchip was interviewed by the Times’ business pages in a feature on British exporters. Mr Mellenchip told the paper that the £10m turnover Merseyside based company has dozens of engineers in ports worldwide. He emphasized the importance of going out and meeting people to be a successful exporter. He said: “If you are sat on your backside in the office doing nothing, that’s what you’ll get – nothing. If you don’t make the effort no-one else will do it for you.”

Polaris director Ben Pinnington said the company specialises in running publicity campaigns for international engineering companies.

“A big benefit of national coverage is that it can help clients when they are working abroad,” he said. “They can show potential and existing customers coverage and this gives confidence. We have heard this directly from clients, in particular those with distributor networks. Distributors can all be given cuttings and can use them as part of their sales pitch demonstrating track record and credibility. Moreover, a lot of publicity, like this Times article, is also retained online which again gives customers confidence if they are researching a client by searching online.”

“It is vital for Polaris to understand what clients like SeaKing are trying to achieve at home and abroad,” he said. “SeaKing works internationally, nationally and locally. Our campaign is designed to dovetail with that, so we run a balanced media campaign targeting national media, international trade press and regional press.”

In March Polaris’ maritime manufacturing client International Safety Products (ISP) appeared on BBC SIX O’Clock national news, while in April Polaris secured a half page feature in the Daily Telegraph for Merseyside manufacturer Lattimer.
