Polaris appointed by exports hungry manufacturer Dantec

Merseyside PR firm Polaris Media has expanded its portfolio of manufacturers by signing a new deal with £5.6m turnover composite hose maker Dantec.

The contract will see Polaris charged with ramping up the profile of Wirral based Dantec in the UK and overseas as it seeks to become the world’s leading composite hose manufacturer following an MBO in 2011. The firm makes hoses for the transfer of petrol, oil products, chemicals and liquefied gases.

Polaris director Ben Pinnington said the firm is delighted to add another leading manufacturer to its client base.

“Polaris has extensive experience and expertise of promoting engineering and manufacturing firms in the media,” he said. “More exporters like Dantec are now coming to us asking to raise their profile not only in the UK but in key growth markets like the Middle East, America and Asia. This is especially the case for Dantec where already 70pc of sales are exports and massive opportunity exists for further growth. We are finding that the foreign media particularly in the petrochemical sector is very responsive to news driven media campaigns. These campaigns can make a real difference in growing awareness and understanding of clients in developing markets. Moreover with so much news being retained permanently online news coverage is now one of the most powerful forms of search engine optimization.”

Dantec managing director John Laidlaw said he sees PR as an important tool in growing awareness of the business in the worldwide composite hose market which is worth an estimated £45m.

“This has been another strong year for Dantec where we managed to just beat last year’s turnover and have our best year of trading,” he said. “Our job now is to build on the robust performance and catapult the business forward. Our aim is to grow turnover substantially to £6.5m next year and in the financial year 2014-15 we are gunning for £7.9m.  We see ourselves continuing to consolidate our position in the UK where our market position is very strong. However, it is the oil and petrochemical exports market that holds huge potential. We look forward to working with Polaris using PR to reinforce our growth objectives.”
